In this area you will find…
Asiatic Lions
Chessington Zoo currently houses two Asiatic Lions for you to visit - Ashok and Kalinga. The number of these lions remaining in the world is very small, estimated at less than 300.
Binturong
The Binturong is a nocturnal animal who has seen its population in the wild decrease due to deforestation. They are known to make fun chuckling sounds if they are happy and there are currently two Binturongs in our Zoo.
Fossa
Fossa are cat-like in appearance and are amazingly agile - they are able to leap through trees and branches much like squirrels do in the UK. Chessington Zoo's two Fossa arrived in 2007 having lived in Germany for over ten years previously.
Gorillas
Come face to face with Chessington Zoo's impressive primates. We have 9 gorillas including head of the family Kumba. Feeding times are at 11.45am and 1.45pm
Persian Leopards
These big cats are endangered species which currently live near our Sumatran Tigers. Read on for some incredible facts and to meet our family of leopards.
Sumatran Tigers
Visit one of the world's most endangered animals - the Sumatran Tiger. Chessington Zoo participates in vital breeding programs and has recently welcomed two tiger cubs, Kabus and Kelabus.
